Let’s Get Started
Heavenly Father, Thank you for wanting a relationship with us. Thank you, Jesus, for wanting us to know the Father so much that you were willing to give your life to endure the punishment our sins deserved. Father we cannot touch the heart of the young person reading this. We don’t know their situation, and we cannot be physically present with them. But you can. Please use this resource to give them what they need most—a deeper relationship with you. Give them diligence to complete whatever part of this would be helpful to them. Hear their prayers and answer them. Show them how wonderful you are, and may they believe the Bible to be your Word and experience your presence and comfort as they open it (2 Timothy 3:16). Give them faith in Jesus so that they might know you as their Father (John 14:6). In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

NEXT STEPS

Keep Getting to Know Your Heavenly Father

It might seem like your activities are over. But we designed this study in a special way. See, the activities we introduced you to—reading the Bible, praying, hanging out with other believers, getting alone with God, enjoying his creation, cultivating a thankful heart—they never get old! They’re what continue to sustain our relationship with God for our whole lives.

Now you know how to grow in your relationship with your Heavenly Father, no matter what life brings your way. Keep seeking him, and he will keep showing himself to you (John 14:21).

Keep seeking your Heavenly Father, and he will keep showing himself to you.

You may want to know where next to open in your Bible. We have two suggestions—check them out under the “Action Step” for this lesson.

Dear friend, we hope this study has been helpful to you. There is so much we wish we could do for you, because we know your needs are many. But we also know that even if we met all your material needs, we can’t fix your greatest need—to know God.

We all need Jesus. He is what we need most. We need his forgiveness, his love, his rescue. We need him to show us the Father (Luke 10:22). We need his brotherhood. We need his friendship. We pray that we have led you to Jesus, who can lead you to the Father.

He can meet all of your needs. He really can. Trust him today, and every day. He will never forsake you, and he never breaks his Word—not one of his good promises has ever failed (Joshua 21:45).

BIBLE STUDY

Isaiah 43:1-4

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
    I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
    and because I love you…

(New International Version)

ACTION STEP

Take a Big Step

  1. Read Psalms: The book of Psalms has often been referred to as the prayerbook of the Bible. God gave the Psalms to us so that we could cry out to him when we don’t know what to say. As you keep getting alone with your Heavenly Father and giving him your heart, read the Psalms. Let them teach you how to trust God in prayer.
  2. Read Proverbs: Then, there’s a book in the Bible right next to it called Proverbs. Proverbs is in the Bible to teach us wisdom. Although it includes a lot of practical wisdom for daily living, it begins like an open letter from a father to a son. Even though we know King Solomon wrote this book, we also know that every bit of the Bible is ultimately God’s Word. Proverbs is a letter from your Heavenly Father to you, teaching you the way of wisdom. Open to one of these books and begin asking your Father to continue helping you get to know him.
