Reading Plan
Let’s Get Started
Heavenly Father, Thank you for wanting a relationship with us. Thank you, Jesus, for wanting us to know the Father so much that you were willing to give your life to endure the punishment our sins deserved. Father we cannot touch the heart of the young person reading this. We don’t know their situation, and we cannot be physically present with them. But you can. Please use this resource to give them what they need most—a deeper relationship with you. Give them diligence to complete whatever part of this would be helpful to them. Hear their prayers and answer them. Show them how wonderful you are, and may they believe the Bible to be your Word and experience your presence and comfort as they open it (2 Timothy 3:16). Give them faith in Jesus so that they might know you as their Father (John 14:6). In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

STEP FOUR

Let Your Father Sing Over You

God’s people sing. It’s a very natural thing for us. Singing expresses more emotion than talking—and those who know and love the God of the Bible can’t help but sing about him and all that he has done for us.

What we sing about and listen to often shapes our thoughts and the attitude of our hearts. What do you often let resound around in your soul?

Step 4: Ask God to help you believe that he sings over you and ask for your Heavenly Father to give you a song.

Want to know something wild? God loves us so much that he can’t help singing about us! Believe God’s own Word today that he rejoices over you, his child through Christ, with singing. He sings about you! Ask God to put his songs in your soul and let assurances of his love resound there.

BIBLE STUDY

Psalm 5:11-12

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them sing joyful praises forever.
Spread your protection over them,
that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
For you bless the godly, O Lord;
you surround them with your shield of love.

(New Living Translation)

Zephaniah 3:17

“The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”

(New International Version)

ACTION STEP

Take Step Four

  1. Pray and ask God to sing over you—to give you a song to encourage your heart in this difficult time.
  2. If you’re a musician, try composing one! If you’re not, or don’t prefer that, take a listen to the playlist we created for you (in the Resources section). We tried to pick something from every genre, so that you can choose the style you like best. These songs also are based on truths from the Bible, they’re not just these artists’ ideas about God. Consider saving one of the songs as your alarm clock each morning or committing to listen to it before bed.
