In story after story we see God’s faithfulness to his promise and his gentle cultivation of his people’s faith. He shows his faithfulness by giving Isaac as a son. In response to God’s faithfulness, Abraham continually shows his trust in God’s promise, even in the midst of the greatest of trials and tests.

Genesis then traces the Abrahamic promise from one generation to the next—from Abraham and Sarah, to Isaac and Rebekah, and to Jacob. In each generation God affirms his plan to multiply offspring and bless the nations through his people. He also overcomes great obstacles in order to demonstrate his unswerving commitment to unfold his gracious plan.
