The Bible has always been useful for whoever is reading it at whatever point in history. It was relevant when it was written, it is relevant now, and it will always be relevant to future generations.

Baptism is a public expression of a new identity. Through baptism, a person who trusts in Jesus publicly confesses their faith in him. It’s a celebration Jesus commands each of his followers to experience. It is a symbol to the church and the world, and a gift of God to the individual.
God’s words never pass away. Today, he is speaking to us through the Bible. Question is, will we apply ourselves to understand?

“Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ…” (1 Peter 1:20-21 ESV)

What Is Baptism and Why Does It Matter?
Often our greatest announcements in life are tied to our identity. Birthdays, engagements, marriages, promotions, baby announcements, all say something about who we are. We’re a teen now, or an adult, or a fiancé, or a wife, or a dad, and the list goes on.
In our age more than ever, it seems like everyone waves one flag or another—sometimes literally. We’re great at proclaiming who we are. We trumpet what’s important to us. And what we choose to identify with says something about what we value. Something exciting has happened to every believer in Jesus, and we announce it through baptism.

God’s words never pass away. He has preserved his Word for you
between the covers of your Bible because of his great love for you.
Today, he is still speaking to us through the Bible.
Question is, will we apply ourselves to understand?
There is no other book like the Bible, no book that even remotely compares with the Bible.
No other book has been so often printed or widely distributed in as many languages as the Bible. Its preservation is miraculous, its circulation amazing.
No other book has influenced human civilization, literature, art or government as has the Bible, nor has any book changed the lives of more people than the Bible.
Its message is timeless. It will be as equally applicable to the twenty-first century as it was to the first. It fits men of all ages and is never out of date. It speaks with equal power to Jew or Gentile, black or white, old or young, learned or ignorant.

“Pages and pages of God.
His words, his thoughts, his heart—
right there, just a few inches away…
Where else will we run?”
Nobody ever
outgrows Scripture;
the book
widens and deepens
with our years.
