And then he (Jesus) says that we are to be teaching them to obey everything that he has commanded us (Matthew 28:20—Learn more about the Great Commission). It’s important when we think about our call to teach the world about Jesus, that the teaching is not merely meant to be informational, the teaching is meant to be transformational, if that’s a word, right? We are teaching the truth of Jesus Christ for the transformation of lives.

Now the truth in itself is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12), the very Word of God. It has an effect. It does change things. But you know what really changes things? When we obey it.

That’s why Jesus says, “Teach them to obey.” We and the world experience his maximal transformation when we obey the truth about Jesus and everything that Jesus has taught us.

He says, “All authority has been given to me. Go therefore unto all the nations, making disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:18-20), to live under the authority of the Trinity.
