If You Want Joy, Read Your Bible

Here’s your weekly word of biblical encouragement from Bibles.net! Enjoy this short video devotional or read its contents below, adapted from a message by Pastor Britt Merrick.

The video above will help you want to read the Bible today and help you believe that it’s an incredible gift from God!

“Experiencing joy involves continually hearing and consuming truth. That’s why you have always heard me call us to read the Bible.

Because we have no real hope of experiencing the joy of the Lord apart from a steady diet of the Word of the Lord—no real hope!

Some of you here, you call yourselves Christians, but you have no time in the Word of God, no disciplined practice, no regular consumption of God’s Word.

You know what you have? You have a truncated, emaciated experience of Christianity.

As Christians, we grow by the Word of God. We are nourished on God’s Word. “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 8: 3; Matthew 4:4).

It is in his Word that Christ is fully and finally revealed to us, that all of his promises are laid out.

It’s here that we find the premises of joy.”
