The video above will remind you of a precious truth that will infuse your day with hope.
Let me read it again. “And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives” (Romans 6:4 NLT).
You know the hope of Christianity is that we have new lives because of what Christ has done for us.
It’s not just that we were forgiven. It is that we have new lives—that we have a righteous standing before God, and we have a new way to live, and we have a new power in our lives (Christ in us and the Holy Spirit in us), and the power of sin has been broken in our lives.
So we were once slaves to sin, but we have been delivered in that, and we have new lives.
The great picture of that was Israel in the Old Testament enslaved to Egypt and then God delivered them through the lamb that was slain on their behalf. And now they had new lives as free people with God (see Exodus 12-14).
We have new lives because of the resurrection [of Jesus] from the dead. And that resurrection power is functioning in these new lives. So, we live resurrected lives now, and then we will live a literal, physical resurrected life in glory, when Christ comes again.
