What Is True Life?

You must understand: Life and death are more than whether your lungs breathe and heart beats. Life and death are both spiritual and eternal as well as physical. Physical death is only a door that reveals our true spiritual state for all eternity.

Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life” (John 5:24 ESV).

The life that Jesus offers is eternal. But that life begins here on earth when you come to trust in him (John 17:3; John 14:6).

It’s a life of peace, knowing that your sins are forgiven, and you are right with God (Romans 8:1; Romans 5:1).

It’s a life of joy, knowing that nothing can ever separate you from the love of God that is yours in Christ (Romans 8:35-39; John 15:11; Psalm 16:11).

It’s a life of community, knowing that you are not in this alone, because you are part of Jesus’ family, the church (1 Peter 2:4-6; 1 Corinthians 12:12-26).

Life begins when you come to trust in Jesus. And it continues and stretches out into eternity.

This life begins when you come to trust in Jesus. And it continues and stretches out into eternity.

Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, who suffered and died for your sin? That he rose from the dead to free you of the power, penalty, and presence of sin, and to give you a new relationship with God?

You must only come as you are and receive his free gift (Romans 6:23). And he is ready to receive you.

Would you call on him today, asking him to trade your sin, sorrow, and despair for his eternal life (Romans 10:13)?
